Insomnia & Sleep Disorders

Struggling to Sleep?

Insomnia isn’t just about not getting enough sleep – it’s about feeling tired, wired, and stuck in a cycle that keeps you awake at night, no matter how much you want to rest.

Whether you’re lying awake for hours, waking up too early, or waking up feeling unrefreshed, poor sleep can drain your energy, affect your mood, and make everything feel harder.

You’re not alone. Around 1 in 3 adults in the UK experience some form of sleep disturbance, and the impact can be profound. Poor sleep doesn’t just make you tired; it can affect your work, relationships, mental health, and even your physical health.

What Insomnia Really Feels Like

Insomnia doesn’t look the same for everyone, but common experiences include:

  • Struggling to fall asleep, even when you're exhausted
  • Waking up multiple times throughout the night
  • Waking up too early and being unable to fall back asleep
  • Feeling fatigued or unrefreshed after a night’s sleep
  • Racing thoughts or anxiety that keep you awake
  • Difficulty relaxing, especially before bed
  • Being irritable, moody, or stressed due to lack of sleep
  • Having trouble concentrating, feeling foggy, or forgetful during the day

Insomnia isn’t a character flaw – it's a pattern that can be changed. The good news is, with the right approach, you can retrain your body and mind to restore natural, restful sleep.

My Approach to Treating Insomnia

As a Clinical Psychotherapist and Hypnotherapist, I use a combination of evidence-based techniques designed to help you reclaim your sleep. My approach is gentle, personalised, and rooted in neuroscience to ensure lasting change, not just short-term fixes. I combine:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) – to address the unhelpful thoughts, behaviours, and habits that keep you awake. We’ll break the cycle and develop healthy, sleep-promoting habits.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) – rather than focusing on the past, we’ll focus on practical solutions that help you restore your sleep, using your strengths and resources to get you there as quickly as possible.
  • Clinical Hypnotherapy – to access the subconscious mind and reprogram the triggers and emotional blocks that prevent you from relaxing and getting the deep sleep your body needs.
  • Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) – to shift mental and emotional patterns, helping you feel more relaxed and calm, especially at bedtime.
  • Neuroscience – to understand and utilise neuroplasticity, teaching you how your brain can change to support better sleep patterns and help you feel more rested and energised. I'll teach you how your mind works and more importantly, how to make it work for you!

This dynamic approach doesn’t just mask your symptoms – it helps rebuild the foundation for healthy sleep from the inside out, so you can wake up feeling refreshed and energised.

Why Hypnotherapy for Insomnia?

Hypnotherapy is an incredibly effective tool for treating insomnia, especially when combined with other techniques like CBT & SFBT. In a deeply relaxed state, hypnotherapy helps bypass the overactive, racing mind and work directly with your subconscious, where sleep issues often stem from.

By reframing the underlying beliefs, dissolving the stress that keeps you awake, and creating positive emotional anchors for sleep, we can help your mind and body fall into a natural, restorative rhythm. This approach not only improves the quantity of your sleep but also the quality, so you can wake up feeling truly rested.

Backed by neuroscience, research has shown that hypnotherapy can significantly reduce insomnia symptoms, with many clients seeing noticeable improvements after just a few sessions.

You Deserve a Good Night’s Sleep

If you’re ready to finally experience a full night of restful sleep, free from the frustration and exhaustion that come with insomnia, this work can help you get there.

Sleep doesn’t have to be a struggle. With the right support, you can retrain your mind and body to sleep deeply, restfully, and wake up refreshed.

You deserve to feel rested, recharged, and ready to take on the day – and that’s exactly what we’ll work towards, together.
